Earlier in the day, Friday, August 24th, Social Media Giant, Facebook officially announced the appointment of Antonio Lucio, who currently is the Global Chief Marketing and Communication Officer at HP Inc.
Facebook has hired Antonio Lucio to work across its numerous apps which includes Instagram and WhatsApp.
The announcement also revealed that Lucio will be part of Facebook’s Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg’s leadership team and will report directly to Facebook Chief Product Officer Chris Cox.
Speaking on the announcement, Cox wrote on Facebook, “Antonio would be joining us from HP, where he was the head of their marketing team for three years. Prior to that, he was the CMO at PepsiCo and Visa.”
Lucio, will start his job as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Facebook from September 4th replacing Gary Briggs who announced that he would be stepping down from the role as he said he has plans of helping the Democratic Party win back seats in the House and Senate later this year, and again in 2020, amongst other plans.
Chris Cox further said, “We have never tackled bigger challenges, nor have we ever had so many opportunities to have a positive impact on the world by improving our products at their core. Facebook’s story is at an intense point.”
Following Palo Alto-based HP Inc’s separation from The Hewlett Packard Corporation, Lucio spent nearly three years at the company.
Cox then added, “He(Lucio) has been outspoken on the importance of building diverse teams at every level in the firm(HP), and also on the need to build authentic global brands with integrity and from places of principle.”
